Autumn Arriving

Night creeps stealthily onward
So that we hardly notice
The Equinox circling silently round.
September skies feature twilight
Unfashionably early for my taste.
Cool evenings on porch swings
Soon to become the stuff of daydreams
As winter grins kindly and coldly
Over the duskly purple mountains.
